Indian inspiration for a custom bridal headpiece
It isn’t every day I get to create a stunning bridal headpiece for an Indian style wedding in Bali!
From the first time I spoke to Heather, she was following her dream for her big day. She had a vision of blending contemporary couture and styling with inspiration from Indian culture including intricate henna tattoos and the decadence and colour of Indian weddings and festivities.
Heather was having her wedding gown custom made by Beata at Chein Noir Dezines. The gorgeous gown blended lace from Heather’s mother’s vintage wedding gown with a stunning beaded French lace. Something old and something new!
Now Heather needed a bridal headpiece to complete her vision.
Heather and I talked about what she wanted from a statement piece. She loved the intricacy of my Le Papillion (The Butterfly) headpiece
, but wanted an Indian influence to create an opulent statement headpiece that was hers and hers alone.
Using the Le Papillion headpiece
as a starting point, Heather and I explored Indian design and traditional Indian bridal headpieces. Inspired by Bollywood, henna tattoo designs and Indian culture, we worked together and I sketched designs to get to the heart of what she wanted for her big day.
It was time well spent.
Your wedding is the most important day of your life. It is not something to look back on and wish you had done something differently. Go with your heart, your own vision and create a headpiece as individual and special as you are.
I created the custom statement headpiece for Heather using the same French lace used for her custom made gown. This created a beautiful symmetry between her gown and bridal accessories.
I hand beaded the gorgeous French lace with silver and gold Swarovski crystals.
No machines go near a Holly Barker Millinery creation!
The result was a truly one of a kind headpiece which met Heather’s vision of a contemporary, Indian inspired design to complement her gown, her bridal accessories
and her wedding decor choices.
In the lead up to the big day, Heather was relaxed knowing she didn’t need to second-guess her bridal accessory choices. She was confident the headpiece was fabulous and couldn’t wait to show it off!
At her wedding in Canggu, Bali, the custom headpiece took centre stage as the show stopping feature of Heather’s bridal look. The headpiece fanned out over her striking dark hair and framed her beautiful face perfectly to create a dazzling statement look.
It was a perfect match with her custom gown, and the gorgeous henna designs on her hands that helped inspire the headpiece design.
The photos speak for themselves. What a beautiful bride! These wedding photos have such a wow factor.
Heather was thrilled with her custom headpiece;
“Thank you for making my dreams come true and creating this incredible piece – you are amazing!“
After getting the chance to use lace from her own mother’s wedding dress for her custom gown, Heather has created her own beautiful bridal headpiece to be treasured for generations to come as a family heirloom.
What a pleasure to help make Heather’s vision a beautiful reality. I love to help creative brides realise their vision for wedding style.
Do you want to stand out from the crowd? A one of a kind headpiece will tie your wedding look together and inspire the rest of your bridal accessories.
today to talk about your inspiration and we can make it happen together.
